Terms
The terms this handbook is published on: reference material only, no advice, no warranty.
Reference material, not advice
What appears here is general reference writing about regulated American law. It is not legal advice and does not stand in for advice. No relationship of lawyer and client arises from reading a page, quoting one, mailing the desk, or acting on something found here. Lawwise publishes. It represents nobody, accepts no instructions, and has no clients.
Where accuracy stops
A page can be wrong. A page can also have been right and been overtaken since — an amendment, a fresh rule, a changed agency position, a decision. Pages come from primary sources and get repaired when an error appears. Even so, nothing here is warranted as complete, as matching the law in force, or as fitting one particular set of facts. Read the cited sources at their own addresses before acting, or take advice from a lawyer licensed where the matter sits.
Deadlines deserve their own warning. Any protest window, appeal period, notice requirement, comment period or filing cutoff stated on this site is a signal to verify that period in the controlling text. It is never a statement of how much time remains in your own file.
No dates on these pages
Nothing here is stamped with a publication or review date, and that absence asserts nothing about currency. No revision schedule is promised. Where the law stands on a given day is a question only the cited source answers. The reasoning is set out at editorial standards.
The text
Read, print and link freely. Quote a passage where the credit names Lawwise and the link points back at the page. Republishing a whole article, translating one, reselling one, or presenting one as somebody else's work is not permitted. The writing here is the site's own.
The photographs
Photographs are not ours to license onward. Each belongs to the photographer who made it, and each appears under one of three terms: a dedication to the public domain, a public domain mark, or Creative Commons Attribution. Every image is listed at image credits with its photographer, its source and its license. Reuse answers to that license, not to this page. Cropping and grading move no rights. A photograph accompanies an article for atmosphere; it establishes nothing the article asserts.
The paid link
A single outbound link inside immigration sponsorship articles is paid placement by an immigration law firm, and it is marked as outbound. Nothing else on the site is paid placement. Read it as advertising. It changes nothing about what those articles say. Nothing is represented here about that firm, what it offers, whether it takes work, or how matters end. The disclosure repeats on editorial standards and privacy.
Outbound citations
Articles link to statutes, rules, agency material, court sites, and the Legal Information Institute run by Cornell, so that citations can be tested. Those destinations belong to other people. Lawwise takes no responsibility for their contents, their accuracy, whether they stay up, or how a visitor is treated there. A citation link identifies a source. It endorses nothing.
No warranty, and liability excluded
The site is offered as it stands. No warranty is given, express or implied. That exclusion reaches the implied warranties of merchantability, of fitness for any particular purpose, and of non-infringement. Continuous availability is not promised, and material can be added, rewritten or pulled at any time. So far as the law permits, liability for loss is excluded: loss from using the site, loss from an outage, and loss from relying on anything published here.
Governing law
United States law governs these terms. No state, forum or court is specified. Nothing above strips a reader of a right that the law where they live does not permit to be waived.
Reaching the desk
Anything arising from this page goes to contact@lawwisegroup.com. Errors in an article belong at corrections, and about states what this publication is.
